His story
The square was actually an old typical Cordoban neighborhood patio, that with the passing of the years was transformed into a street. Its current appearance is due to the interest on the part of Mayor Alfonso Cruz-Conde in beautifying certain sites in Córdoba., among whom was the alley of flowers, although it would be his brother Antonio Cruz-Conde, the one who would be in charge of the execution when he also became mayor.
The remodeling project was designed in the mid-1990s. 1950 by architect Víctor Escribano Ucelay, who carried out its ornamentation with the construction of the arches that contemplate it today, the transformation of the old cement slab pavement by the typical boulders, the placement of a caliphal capital on the corner at the beginning of the alley and it was ordered to be decorated with flower pots.
Además, the construction of a marble fountain was planned, but Enrique Romero de Torres, idea driver, disagreed that the material was the most conducive to the environment, for what Rafael Bernier Soldevilla was, neighbor on the same street and teacher at the art school, the one who would make the current octagonal fountain integrating archaeological remains such as a Roman column in the year 1960. Since then, Calleja de las Flores has become a photographic icon of the city, with hundreds of tourists daily photographing the image of the Mosque tower from the small terminal square of Calleja de las Flores.

Where is?
In the heart of the neighborhood Jewry, near the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba we found this peaceful alley, one of the more traditional of the city. Narrow and sinuous, climbs on a gentle slope to the small square into which it flows. The latticed balconies are filled with flowers, aromatizing the pleasant walk of the visitor.. From the fuente that centers the square we can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the tower of the Mosque-Cathedral.
