Su Historia<\/h2>\n

La <\/span>Sinagoga<\/b> de <\/span>C\u00f3rdoba<\/a> es un templo hebreo que se localiza en la <\/span>calle Jud\u00edos<\/a> de esta ciudad. Se construy\u00f3 en el a\u00f1o <\/span>1315<\/a> (5075 del calendario jud\u00edo), en estilo mud\u00e9jar, por alarifes dirigidos por <\/span>Yishaq Moheb<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tras la expulsi\u00f3n de los jud\u00edos en 1492<\/a> el edificio se dedic\u00f3 a diversas funciones: hospital de hidr\u00f3fobos de Santa Quiteria, Ermita de San Crisp\u00edn<\/a> del Gremio de los Zapateros desde 1588 y Escuela Nacional de p\u00e1rvulos hasta que fue declarado Monumento Nacional en 1885<\/a>. En 1884, un a\u00f1o antes, se hab\u00eda desprendido parte del enfoscado que cubr\u00eda las paredes, quedando as\u00ed al descubierto los paramentos de yeser\u00edas que ornaban primitivamente el recinto.<\/p>\n

Desde entonces pas\u00f3 por varias fases de restauraci\u00f3n como la de\u00a0F\u00e9lix Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a>\u00a0en\u00a01929<\/a>\u00a0y las iniciadas en\u00a01977<\/a>\u00a0hasta llegar a la reapertura del edificio en\u00a01985<\/a>\u00a0con motivo de la celebraci\u00f3n del 850 aniversario de nacimiento de\u00a0Maim\u00f3nides<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Consta de un patio al que se accede desde la calle y que da paso a un vest\u00edbulo seguido de la sala de oraci\u00f3n. Del lado oriental del vest\u00edbulo arranca la escalera que lleva hasta la galer\u00eda para las mujeres.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

La sala de oraci\u00f3n es de planta casi cuadrangular, con 6’95×6’37 m, tiene cubierta de artesonado y alcanza una altura de m\u00e1s de 6 metros; en su lado oriental se abre el tabern\u00e1culo, espacio reservado para la Tor\u00e1 y coronado con arco enmarcado en un alfiz. El lado opuesto al tabern\u00e1culo presenta un peque\u00f1o nicho con arco polilobulado y apuntado, donde estuvo el retablo de Santa Quiteria. La zona inferior de las paredes de la Sala de Oraci\u00f3n perdi\u00f3 su decoraci\u00f3n, conserv\u00e1ndose actualmente \u00fanicamente las ricas yeser\u00edas de la parte alta.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Las labores ornamentales muestran dos estilos bien diferenciados; la zona correspondiente a la tribuna de las mujeres se adorna con yeser\u00edas de rico y complicado dise\u00f1o, que revela influencias granadinas en la obra. Las restantes paredes lucen un reticulado de arquillos lobulados con una pi\u00f1a al centro, cuya est\u00e9tica se muestra cercana al arte toledano. La decoraci\u00f3n se completa con oraciones extra\u00eddas del libro de los Salmos. La decoraci\u00f3n en yeso, con motivos mud\u00e9jares, se ha perdido hasta unos dos metros de altura, dejando a la vista el ladrillo de su f\u00e1brica. En el siglo XVIII se reemplaz\u00f3 el artesonado por una b\u00f3veda decorada con yeser\u00edas.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

En el muro oriental existe un hueco destinado a acoger el “Aron” o arca en la que se custodiaban los cinco libros del Pentateuco. A la derecha de este hueco se conserva una inscripci\u00f3n en cuyo texto se alude a Yishaq Moheb, fundador de la Sinagoga. Frente a \u00e9ste puede verse un bello arco polilobulado que constitu\u00eda el enmarque del “bimah” o p\u00falpito. Se aprecian restos pict\u00f3ricos representando una cruz, fechable con probabilidad en el siglo XVI.<\/p>\n
